She had a small bundle of matches in her pocket and was using them all up, when she accidentally dropped one on the ground. It was cold and snowy, and she couldn't find it. She began to cry and cry, until a kind neighbor came and asked her what was wrong.
The girl told him about her lost match and he kindly gave her a new one. She lit up with happiness and began to play again. But as she played, she realized that she had forgotten about the other children, still inside waiting for their gifts.
She went back home, to remind them of their joyous celebration and their loved ones, the joy of family togetherness on Christmas Day. After a few hours of waiting, they came outside and realized how lucky they were.
Every time they made a fire with their matches, they remembered the little girl and her story of courage and hope. That Christmas, they all shared a special bond that was forever etched in their hearts.
