than後面加什麼，要根據than的詞性以及它在句中的功能來決定，如：
than作副詞時，它主要是修飾動詞的，要放在動詞後面或用於比較級，可以接動詞原形、動名詞（-ing）、不定式、代詞、名詞或相當於名詞的詞，甚至是個句子。例如：He runs a lot faster than I；She looks younger than she is；I like swimming more than running；He would rather go out than stay at home等。
than作介詞時，後面要接形容詞或副詞的比較級，例如：Jim is taller than me（吉姆比我高）。
